I am an educator at heart. I started off as a biology teacher and taught for 10 years at Stuyvesant High School in New York, what today is called a magnet school. I decided to go to law school and went to New York Law School at night for 4 nights a week for 4 years while teaching full time during the day at Stuyvesant and was never unprepared for law school or for my teaching. I found a unique way to pay for law school - I was a contestant on the $10,000 Pyramid show and won $10,100. In those ancient days, it paid for law school.
Some years later we decided we wanted to move away from the east coast megalopolis and we spent a year searching the county and chose to move to Louisville. We moved here over 27 years ago with no friends, no family, no jobs, and both of my sons were in college. We even wrote a book about how we chose where to move - "Moving the Nest".
My husband, Bernie, went to law school after we moved to Louisville at the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. He graduated at age 56 and no one would give him an interview, much less a job. So, at my suggestion he founded Kentucky ElderLaw. I joined him and we built it into the largest elder law firm in the state of Kentucky. We retired from the firm in 2014 and spent the next few years traveling the country and visited over 40 of our magnificent National Parts.
